We build websites for a living, so it would be embarrassing if ours were hard to use. This page sets out what we have done and how to tell us when we have got something wrong.

The standard we aim at

This site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the level UK public sector sites are held to, and the level we hold our client work to as well.

What that means in practice

• Text contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1 against its background. Our accent colours are used as backgrounds with dark text on them, never as small text on white, because no bright colour passes that test at body size.
• Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
• There is a "skip to content" link at the top of every page for people using a screen reader or keyboard.
• Headings run in a logical order, and every form field has a real label.
• Animation is limited, and everything that moves stops for anyone whose device is set to reduce motion.
• Text can be resized to 200% without anything breaking or overlapping.
• The site works at 320 pixels wide, which is the narrowest common phone.

Where we know we fall short

We are not aware of any problems at the moment. The photographs are library images with written descriptions for screen readers. If you find something that does not work, please tell us using the details below and we will list it here until it is fixed.

Why we bother

Around one in five people in the UK has a disability. On a site whose whole job is getting local businesses more enquiries, turning away a fifth of the audience would be a strange way to go about it. It is also a requirement under the Equality Act 2010.
