Quotes and prices

Every quote we give is a fixed price for a defined scope, and it holds for 30 days. The prices shown on this website are starting points. The quote is the binding document.

If you ask for work outside the agreed scope we will quote it separately before doing it. We will not add it to the invoice and tell you afterwards.

Payment

Nothing is payable for the PoPIt Preview, the free design concept that comes with a website quote. Project work is then usually a third when you accept the Preview, a third at design sign-off and a third on launch, once you have signed off the finished site. Smaller projects are half when you accept the Preview and half on launch. Monthly work is billed monthly in advance. Invoices are due within 14 days.

Late payment: we reserve the right to charge statutory interest and a fixed recovery cost under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

Timescales

The launch date is set in writing when you accept the PoPIt Preview that comes with your quote. For most websites it is six to eight weeks later. That date assumes you get us the content and feedback we ask for by the dates agreed. If those slip, the launch date moves by the same amount and we will agree the new date with you in writing.

Ownership

On final payment, everything we have made for you is yours: the design, the code, the content we wrote and the domain. For the first 12 months the site is hosted on our Amazon Web Services (AWS) account; after that we move it to your own account if you want. We keep the right to show the work in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

Third-party assets such as fonts, stock images, plugins and platform subscriptions are licensed to you under the terms of whoever supplies them, and those costs are listed separately in the quote.

Your responsibilities

• Giving us content, images and feedback by the dates agreed.
• Making sure you have the right to use anything you send us, including logos, photographs, copy and data.
• Nominating one person who can make decisions and sign things off.

What comes with a website

For 12 months from launch, every website we build includes ongoing SEO work with a monthly report, and support: if anything we built goes wrong, we fix it at no extra cost, and small updates such as new opening hours are included too. New pages or features are quoted separately. Support does not cover faults in services run by other companies, such as your domain registrar or email provider.

Every site except a Shopify shop also gets standard hosting on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for those 12 months. Standard hosting covers the website itself; email accounts are not part of it. A Shopify shop is hosted by Shopify on a plan you pay Shopify for. If a site needs more than standard hosting, such as a busy online shop, that cost is set out in the quote.

After 12 months you choose: we help you open an AWS account in your business name and move the site into it, after which AWS bills you directly for hosting, or we keep managing hosting and support for you from £45 a month. SEO can carry on month to month from £350 a month. We ask which you would like before the 12 months are up, and nothing ties you in.

Monthly services

Social media and advertising management run month to month with no minimum term, as does SEO for a site we did not build. For a site we built, hosting, support and SEO run month to month once the included 12 months are up. Either of us can end any of these with 30 days' written notice.

What we cannot promise

We cannot guarantee search rankings. Google does not sell placement and changes its rankings continually. We report each month on where you rank and what we have done.

Liability

Our liability for any project is limited to the fees you have paid us for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Ending an agreement

If you cancel a project part-way through, you pay for the work completed to that point. We will hand over everything produced so far.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
